Identifying and estimating the properties of metal-poor pre-main sequence stars in essential to understand the role of increasing metallicity in star and planet formation, and the formation of the first stars. Some of my work in this area can be found here
Photometric determination of pre-main sequence accretion rates
The disc accretion rate of pre-main sequence stars is an important parameter in pre-main sequence evolution, but requires time- expensive spectra to be measured accurately. I am looking at using large scale photometric surveys to measure the accretion rate from broadband U and narrowband Hα line photometry. A presentation summarising the work is here
The birth and death of massive stars is the important driver of cosmic evolution. I am currently looking at the pre-main sequence evolution of massive stars, and also interested in measuring their mass loss.
