Research

I am a Research Fellow at Armagh Observatory. A lot of my research consists of theoretical (computational) studies in solar system dynamics.
Interests include:

• regions beyond Neptune as the sources of comets and Centaurs
• formation, dynamical evolution and structure of meteor streams; meteor shower predictions (e.g. Leonids, Taurids); interplanetary dust complex
• near-Earth objects (NEOs - comets or asteroids on orbits that can come near the Earth), impact hazard, NEO observational surveys, orbit determination

• worked with AANEAS (the Anglo-Australian Near-Earth Asteroid Survey) at the Anglo-Australian Observatory (1993-1995)
• at Japan's National Astronomical Observatory (1996-1997); sometimes visited Tokyo University's Kiso Observatory
• in the Space Systems Section of the Kashima branch of the Communications Research Laboratory (1997-1998)
• at Armagh Observatory (1998 July - present)
• co-star in Hollywood movie Armageddon
• often visiting the Bisei Spaceguard Center at the invitation of the Japan Spaceguard Association (2000-2004)
