Ardress House
Ardress House is located nine miles from the city of Armagh
near the village of Loughgall. It was originally a 17th Century
farmhouse, and is now owned by the National Trust. This farmhouse
was converted to it's present state by George Ensor when he married
Sarah Clarke of Ardress in 1760. Of note is the fine neo-classical
plaster work in the drawing room, created by Michael Stapleton.
The house also contains a picture gallery. Outside, a working
farmyard contains among other items a piggery and a blacksmith's
shop. Paths guide the visitor around the garden and woods, where
there is also an adventure playground.
Another National trust property in County Armagh is The Argory.
