The Armagh Visitor Education Committee (AVEC) is organising the second Armagh Heritage Day, a one-day conference in the Rotunda Theatre, St Patrick's Trian on Wednesday, 23rd May. The conference, "Robinson's Legacy to Armagh", will highlight the rich historical and cultural heritage of Armagh, encompassing the distinguished libraries, museums, educational facilities and other resources represented by members of AVEC.
Armagh Heritage Day 2007
The conference will begin at 10.00am with a welcome from the Deputy Mayor of Armagh City and District, Councillor Thomas O'Hanlon, and Mark Bailey, Director of the Armagh Observatory and Deputy Chair of AVEC. Keynote presentations will be given by Anthony Malcolmson, author and former Director of the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland; and Marcus Patton, Director of the Hearth Housing Association. Representatives of the following organisations will give shorter presentations: the Armagh Observatory; the Armagh Public Library; and St Patrick's Trian.
During the afternoon, those attending the meeting will be able to participate in a special guided tour first of the Mall, led by Isaac Beattie, and then of the Armagh Observatory, led by John McFarland, where a small exhibition will be on display. Other centres will be open as usual.
