Weather in October

Armagh Observatory reports that the weather in October was much warmer and wetter than average.

Rainfall amounted to 114.1 mm, that is, about 40% more than the average for October and the wettest October since 1998.

The mean monthly temperature was 12.1 degrees Celsius (53.8 degrees Fahrenheit), much higher than the average figure of 10.2 degrees C. There were 3 nights with ground frost.

The total sunshine for the month was 98.5 hours, that is, almost 20% more than the average value.

These data refer to observations at Armagh Observatory, which has been recording the weather at Armagh since 1795.
