March Wetter and Duller Than Usual

Armagh Observatory reports that March was considerably wetter and somewhat duller than average.

Rainfall amounted to 90.8 mm, that is, almost three-quarters more than the March average of 52.8 mm.

The total sunshine for the month amounted to 87 hours, that is, about 15% less than the average of 102 hours.

The mean monthly temperature was 5.8 degrees Celsius, close to the average figure of 6.1 degrees. There were 13 nights with ground frost and 8 with an air frost.

These data refer to observations at Armagh Observatory, which has been recording the weather at Armagh since 1795.
