Subject: IAA Party, EAAS, IAA lecture, IAS, CSP, ISS

Hi all,
 
1. Don't forget the IAA party on Sat 7 Jan, 7.30 p.m., Tudor Cinema,  
Drumhirk Road, off Killyleagh Road, Comber. But if you haven't already booked,  it's 
too late now.
 
2. The next EAAS meeting will be on Monday 9th January, Thompson  Primary 
School, Ballyrobert, 8 p.m. Mark Stronge will be giving a talk  on "Looking 
Deeper into Space" which will cover the many forms of deep sky  astrophotography 
available to the amateur astronomer and the techniques involved  in producing 
deep sky astro-photographs. Admission 3.
 
3. The next IAA public lecture will be on Wednesday 11 January,  when Dr 
Stephen Smartt of QUB will talk on "Supernovae and hunting the exploding  stars" 
(that's a slight change from the one published in the Programme card;  giving a 
broader more general coverage). It's at 7.30 p.m., Lecture Room 5,  
Stranmillis College, Belfast. Admission free, including light  refreshments.
 
4. IAS: The January talk featuring Anthony Murphy from 
www.mythicalireland.com  is  announced on 
www.irishastrosoc.org.  

5. Don't forget the Connaught Star Party, in the Westwood Hotel, Galway, on  
Saturday 28 January. Further details from: galwayastroemail.com 
 
6. The best of the current series of evening passes of the ISS over Ireland  
are now under way: details as always from the excellent, free, 
www.heavens-above.com
