Hi all,

1. A final reminder about the COSMOS 2005 event in Tullamore, 1-3 April:

2. I have just been informed of the following event, which may be of interest 
to some of you: Opto Ireland 2005: "Optics in Ireland - a Retrospective 
View". It will be held in the RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin, on Monday 4 April. Among 
the speakers is Prof Mike Redfern, NUIG. There is also a parallel event "Women 
in Optics", with Prof Susan McKenna Lawlor among the speakers.

3.  Fri., 8 Apr., The TCD Physics Department will celebrate the International 
Year of Physics with EINSTEIN DAY in the Schrödinger Theatre. Some background 
in physics is necessary to understand these lectures.  See

4. The prestigious Wm McCrea Public Lecture, arranged by the Royal Irish 
Academy, will take place on 14 April in the Burke Theatre, Trinity College, 
Dublin, at 6.30 p.m. It will be delivered by Prof Malcolm Longair, Director of The 
Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, and is entitled "The Big Bang and its 
Aftermath". It will be advertised in the Irish Times on Thursday 31 March.  Tickets 
can be booked online at www.ria.ie.
