Subject: Wrong decade!, Mark McCluney
Hi all,
1. WRONG DECADE: Don't blame me! I copied the article about the asteroid
near-miss on "Friday 13 April" direct from the AOL Newsflash, late last night!
What it didn't mention is that the year concerned is 2029! I didn't check it
as it was so late! Thanks to various people for pointing out that 13 April
2005 is in fact a Wednesday, for a start! The other details are basically
correct.
Radio Series by Mark McCluney.
Many IAA members will know Mark McCluney who, often with his wife Cathy, has
given many excellent lectures & Planetarium presentations to us, both at
Stranmillis & at our other public events at Carnfunnock etc. Now Mark is presenting
a science based radio series on Radio Ulster starting on Saturday 19 February
at 11:30, repeated Sunday 20th at 14:30, and running for the next 6 weeks.
It's called "Voyage of Discovery". Mark has travelled all over Northern Ireland
in search of some of our Science History, including visits to Armagh
Observatory and an interview with Professor Jocelyn Bell-Burnell, (the discoverer of
Pulsars) who was born and bred in Lurgan, Co.Armagh.
Clear Skies,
Terry Moseley
