Hi all,

1. A final reminder about the lecture in Armagh on Wednesday, 17 March 2004
(St. Patrick's Day); @ 19:30 in The Rotunda Lecture Theatre, St Patrick's
Trian, Armagh: "Patrick, Comets and Christianity" by Professor Mike Baillie
(Queen's University Belfast). Admission by ticket only: contact Armagh
Observatory (028) 3752 2928 to see if there are any left.

2. COSMOS 2004
The annual COSMOS event will be at Annaharvey, just outside Tullamore, as
usual. Details of the Tullamore Ast Soc's excellent annual event are now
available; it's on 19 - 21 March (Friday evening - Sunday afternoon). It's always a
good programme, and good craic, with dark skies for observing if it's clear.
Here's the latest details, from Sean Morris: here for
the programme details.
Remember the mega book & magazine sale: I'll be bringing loads of SH
astronomy books & magazines, all to be sold at bargain prices!
If you haven't already got accommodation, the list attached, which is much
more comprehensive than that on the above website, may help. It also gives
more details such as prices, distances, no of rooms etc, where I know them. (If
you don't want to download a Word attachment, let me know & I'll email it
directly in the text of an email.)

3. The latest issue (March/April) of the excellent IFAS magazine "Arcturus"
is now available to download at the IFAS website now
and there are some fine articles contributed by amateur astronomers countrywide
and abroad.
On the website, go to the FILES directory, then the ARCTURUS
sub-directory, where you can download the latest issue as an Adobe Acrobat pdf. The
back issues are also archived here and the Jan/Feb 2004 edition contains a few
articles on celestial highlights for the year ahead including a two-page piece
on the upcoming Venus transit. The magazine is FREE and everyone is encouraged
to copy and distribute it as they see fit.

4. You may like to know that the April 2004 issue of "PC Pro" magazine
(3.50) carries a free copy of the Starry Night Backyard software (valued at
35).

Clear Skies,

Terry Moseley
