Subject: Aliens - Where are they? Aurora?

Hi all,

Modesty almost, but not quite, forbids me to mention the following:

Astronomy Ireland Lecture "Aliens - where are they?" by yours truly, Monday
9th, 8 p.m., Dublin City University. All welcome.

Are there other intelligent species elsewhere in the universe? Probably. If
so, where are they? Why haven't they been here? Why have we not heard from them
yet? (At least, not indisputably....) Will we ever? Will we ever contact or
visit them? Come along & hear some of the reasons.....

There is a very active region on the Sun at the moment - an amazing complex
of small to medium-sized spots - which could well trigger aurora activity over
the next few days. Keep watching. Also look out for noctilucent clouds if you
have a good dark Northern horizon. And have a look at Rho Cas & Delta Sco as
per my last email.

Clear skies,

Terry Moseley
