Subject: Comet & Season's Greetings

Hi all,

I got a nice view of the new comet, Kudo-Fujikawa, early on Wed morning (at 
05.30!), in 30x80 binocs, on a tripod. The sky was very clear, so the nearly 
Full Moon didn't cause too much interference.

The comet is quite large & diffuse, with no sign of a tail, although that 
could have been the effect of the moonlight. I estimated it at around 7th 
magnitude, total integrated light. It should reach N.E. visibility in early 
January, especially once the Moon is out of the way.

Has anyone else any observations of it yet?

It's still just circumpolar from 'The North', though best seen just after 
dark, and just before dawn, when it's highest.

The IAA magazine "Stardust" may have many shortcomings, but at least it's 
topical! It contains my observation of the comet, made on the same day that 
the magazine was printed - AND posted! Can anyone beat that? (IAA members 
should get it before XMAS - I hope).
