![]() | Do you lie awake at night worrying about the Asteroid Threat; have you ever wondered what `Dark Matter' is really made of? Then join us on a historical tour of the Guinness Hop Store and see how Dublin's famous dark brew is really made before retiring to the famous Gravity Bar to sample the well-known dark liquid (free gratis) and imbue some Science. This event is a light-hearted discussion led by Mark Bailey (Armagh) and Duncan Steel (Salford) on Asteroid Impacts. Alternative drinks will, of course, also be available. Note that the Gravity Bar has a 360 degree panoramic view of Dublin and is a wonderful venue for this event. Numbers at the event are limited by free ticket to 200 and tickets will issued be on a first come, first served basis at registration. Buses will be provided; they will leave Dublin Castle at 19:15 sharp, and will return to the Castle from the Guinness Hop Store at approximately 22:30. The British Council have also organised an exhibition of David Malin's excellent photography from the AAT, which you can see at the entrance to the State Apartments in Dublin Castle. This is in the same courtyard as the entrance to the Conference Centre. Please pay it a visit if you can. | ||
Tour
of Megalithic Monuments in the Boyne Valley | ||
| A trip that you might like to consider going on occurs on Saturday 12th April. This is a tour of the megalithic monuments of the Boyne Valley. The trip will include transport to/from Dublin Castle, lunch, a visit to the Boyne Valley Interpretative Centre, and a tour of the famous mound at Knowth. There is a charge of 25 Euro. The maximum number of participants is limited to 40. Tickets will be available at Registration and the bus leaves at 11:45 sharp from Dublin Castle on Saturday 12th April.
