Accounts and General Administrative Officer

Introduction

The Armagh Observatory is a modern astronomical research institute with a rich heritage, funded by the Northern Ireland Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL).

The Observatory has a vacancy for an Accounts and General Administrative Officer who will be responsible for processing accounting information, the administration of Government grants, and other general duties. The salary is based on the Northern Ireland Civil Service Administrative Officer scale, currently in the range 11,572 pounds to 15,691 pounds per annum. Starting salary will depend on qualifications and experience.

Applicants must have at least five GCSE/GCE passes or equivalent including English and Mathematics with a grade B or higher, at least three years experience in processing accounting information for expenditure and income in a computerized accounting system, at least two years experience or a relevant academic qualification covering the use of basic information technology for the office, and effective interpersonal and communication skills.
